Dubai's summer heat (June–September) is intense; October–April is the more comfortable travel window.
Dress modestly in older neighborhoods and religious sites, even though the city is generally liberal for the region.
A stopover of 2–3 days is enough to see the highlights without disrupting a longer Africa itinerary.
